Parent Date Night
One service we provide monthly is Parent Date Night. Once a month on a Saturday night, our staff will babysit their child(ren) and their friend’s/family’s child(ren) for a very low cost so they can have a night out.
Family Feast
Each Thanksgiving, we host a large Family Feast. Our staff prepares the entrée and drinks and our families bring the sides and desserts. Grandparents, aunts, uncles, all come and have a feast with their child.
Back to School Night
Each fall we host Back to School Night. When dropping off children in the morning, parents are rushed to get to work, so one night a year, we ask our Lead teachers to come back to work so that parents can discuss what’s happening in the classroom.
Parent-Teacher Conferences
In January we set up Parent-Teacher Conferences so parents can get one-on-one time to discuss their own child’s progress. We see ourselves as partners in the child’s development and growth.
Children Around the World
Every December we celebrate Children Around the World. Each classroom selects a country and the children in that room learn about the food, dress, culture, and geography of that country. Children and parents help create a display for the whole school, and every child is issued a passport to go adventuring around the world by visiting the other countries studied. We Are The World takes on new meaning for our students.
Scholastic Book Fair
As a curriculum-based center, we support Read Across America and Dr. Seuss’s Birthday with our own Scholastic Book Fair in February – March. It’s a wonderful opportunity to get children excited about reading.
Stretch ‘n Grow
Convenience is important. We recognize that parents lead a busy life so we bring services to Rocking Horse Academy. Stretch ‘n Grow offers exercise to our PreK classes at no additional expense to our parents. They also offer ballet, cheer, and sports camps to students 3 years old and up in their parent-paid program. We have a piano teacher who comes to us to teach lessons during the day for ages 3 years old and up.
Professional Photographer
A professional photographer comes twice a year to capture the child’s growth and expression. Our photographer is incomparable!
Graduation Ceremony and Reception
Every May marks a milestone in the lives of our PreK children. We matriculate our students with a formal Graduation Ceremony and Reception. Students wear caps and gowns and receive their diplomas. We also share a slide show of their years at Rocking Horse Academy.
Community Events
We are a member of the Kyle community and participate in many fairs and festivals including Plum Creek’s Front Porch Days. We sponsor soccer teams, swim teams, high school projects and students, Hays Women’s Shelter, CTMC Hospice, Susan Komen Foundation, Alex Lemonade Stands, Girl Scouts, Negley Elementary PTA, Blanco Vista Elementary PTA, and Kyle Elementary PTA. CPR/First Aid classes are open to the public and offered monthly. After hours, our gym is converted into a Boot Camp for anyone in the community to exercise. Rocking Rocking Horse Academy is an active member of the Kyle Chamber of Commerce. We believe in giving back to the community whenever we can. We are your neighbors.
